Newmunchen Sonezaki main store

Sonezaki Main Store is the former Newmunchen main store. It was built in the image of an illustration of a ``dream beer hall'' drawn by the founder of Newmunchen when he was young.

As you know, Japan experiences many earthquakes, and buildings are required to have strict seismic resistance. (Earthquake resistance standards are stipulated by law, and have been updated after suffering damage from numerous major earthquakes.)

In January 2022, the main store was over 60 years old and had deteriorated. The building needed to be updated to the latest seismic standards and undergo major repairs. It has been announced that the main store will temporarily close in January and will continue operating at a nearby store.

After nearly a year of consideration, it was decided that the main store building would be demolished. Fans who had loved this beer hall for many years expressed their regret.
