Sophia Smith (b. 2000) is an American soccer player for the Portland Thorns FC of the NWSL and the U.S. Women's National Team. Raised in Colorado, Smith played collegiately for Stanford, leading it to a NCAA national title in 2019. After declaring early for the NWSL draft, she was its No. 1 overall pick in 2020. She immediately became one of the league's top players, being named league MVP (the youngest in history) in 2022 and leading the Thorns to the NWSL championship. On July 22, 2023, in her first appearance in the Women's World Cup, she scored two goals and assisted on a third in the United States' 3–0 victory over Vietnam.
