This model is based off of a well known type of traditional clothing that has become a symbol of a part of the world. It is known as the lederhosen. The distinct breeches with suspenders was more widespread in other parts of Europe in various forms until around the 18th century. By then, they were more commonly seen in the Alps than elsewhere. As a result, the lederhosen (leather pants) became a visual symbol of the area. In German they're commonly known as Trachtenlederhose in order to distinguish by what the world known as lederhosen.
