Chow Chows are unique in several respects. One of their most notable features is their blue-black tongue. Additionally, they move with a stilted gait due to their straight hind legs. Physically, they are medium-sized dogs with a square build and a broad skull. Their dense double coat, which can be either smooth or rough, is available in various colors, including red, black, blue, cinnamon, cream, and white.
Originating from northern China, the Chow Chow breed is also known as the Chinese Edible Dog and Hei She-Tou, among other names.
The Chow Chow is a distinctive-looking breed, characterized by its deep-set almond eyes, large head, and a mane of thick fur that resembles a lion's ruff.
