The Snayperskaya Vintovka Chukavina (meaning "Chukavin Sniper Rifle") is a Gas-operated, Short Stroke Gas Piston with a Rotating Bolt firearm, designed by Andrey Yuryevich Chukavin and unveiled in 2016 as a purpose-built Designated Marksman Rifle, with the intent of taking over the role fulfilled by the now-obsolescent Dragunov SVD.

The firearm is designed with a Lower/Upper Receiver assembly, with a polymer lower and steel upper, minimizing overall weight without sacrificing on rigidity. Other improvements over the Dragunov include: A Full Length Picatinny rail, a new Safety Lever more similar to AR-15's, and a Cold Hammer Forged 410mm (16.1 inch) barrel, but there are variants with longer barrels, as well as a .338 Lapua Magnum variant, that possesses a 560mm (22.2 inch) barrel, designated as the SVCh-8.6.

To further cement the idea that it is a modernization of the Dragunov Weapon System, the SVCh feeds from standard Dragunov magazines when used in the 7.62x54mm Rimmed variant, however, there are two more calibers available - The 7.62x51mm NATO, and the .338 Lapua Magnum.
